Montpellier holds many architectural treasures, visible on foot or even from the Grand Hôtel du Midi, including the famous Place de la Comédie and its equally famous opera house.

The sight that the Place itself offers, animated and lively throughout the year, is worth a visit alone.

Also visit the Musée Fabre and its art collections and stroll through the many gardens that give Montpellier its reputation, Promenade du Peyrou, Jardin des Plantes, square Planchon and Parc Clémenceau.

For live shows, don't miss the dance festival, simply called Montpellier Danse, in late June/early July.

And for a dip into the Mediterranean, Palavas-les-Flots and its beaches are just fifteen minutes from the centre on the tram.

Finally Montpellier, which belongs to an area of great wealth in terms of tourism, can be your departure point for excursions to the Camargue, the Cévennes, Carcassonne, the Pont du Gard, the Palais des Papes in Avignon or Nîmes.
